Rare Earth Dance presents KNOTS on Friday, March 17 (7 p.m.) and Saturday, March 18 (3 p.m.) at PS21- Chatham (2980 NY Route 66, Chatham, NY 12037) in the Black Box Theater.
Choreographer Marcia Wardell Kelly and three accomplished dance artists will present five solo dances, each one a unique expression of the handling of challenges in times of intense change.
Performances are one hour in length with no intermission. Tickets are $20 General Admission and $10 for Students, purchased at the door; cash venmo, and check are all accepted.
Rare Earth Dance, led by choreographer Marcia Wardell Kelly, unites elemental movement with the life experiences of intergenerational veteran performers.

Choreographer MARCIA WARDELL KELLY danced with the Murray Louis Dance Company (1970-75) and was a soloist and principal dancer with the Nikolais Dance Theater (1975, 1977-80). A master teacher for both Murray Louis and Alwin Nikolais, she held faculty positions at the Centre National de Danse Contemporaine in Angers, France, the American Dance Festival, UC Santa Cruz and the University of Minnesota. Her choreography has been performed at the Walker Art Center Minneapolis, the Ailey Theater NYC and in France and Brazil. Marcia is the founder of Rare Earth Dance and author of “A Dancer’s Pocket Guide to Embodied Performance.” Currently she focuses on creating choreography that investigates transformational experiences through collaborative co-creation.
Dancer and Lighting Designer ALBERTO DEL SAZ is the Artistic Director of The Nikolais/Louis Foundation for Dance. He was a soloist and principal dancer with the Nikolais Dance Theater and assistant to Mr. Nikolais and Mr. Louis since 1985. Mr. Del Saz appeared for President Reagan at the Kennedy Center Honors as well as on PBS American Masters series in “Nik and Murray”, an award winning film by Christian Blackwood. He has also represented the United States State Department on a tour of India. Mr. Del Saz has been with the Nikolais/Louis Foundation for 36 years. At the moment his focus is in preserving the Nikolais/Louis technique, repertory and legacy through his teaching and directing.
Dancer YEBEL GALLEGOS is a multi-faceted dance artist from El Paso, Texas. He played an important role in the founding of Cressida Danza Contemporánea in Yucatán, Mexico. During his time with Cressida Danza, Yebel served as dancer, company teacher, and rehearsal director. More recently, Yebel concluded a six-year tenure dancing full time with the Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company, based in Salt Lake City, Utah. Yebel has traveled internationally as a performer and educator to countries such as South Korea, Mongolia, France, Chile, and Austria. In the Spring of 2021, Yebel received his Master’s in Fine Arts degree from the University of Washington in Seattle and now holds a Visiting Assistant Professor position in the Dance Program at Bard College.
Dancer MARGUERITE SAN MILLAN is an actor, director, dancer, choreographer, playwright and teacher. She received a B.S. degree in Dance and Literature from Texas Woman’s University. She studied with dance pioneers Hanya Holm, Phyllis Lamhut, Alwin Nikolais and Murray Louis in NYC and Bill Evans and Don Halquist in Seattle. Additionally, Marguerite is the Artistic Director of Cocoon Theatre, a non-profit visual and performing arts organization. She has performed in plays by Tony Kushner, Stephen Sondheim and Samuel Beckett among many others. Marguerite has directed her own full length plays as well as over 50 original adaptations and musicals, including works by Will Eno, Harold Pinter and Samuel Beckett. She currently performs choreographic works by Jean Churchill, professor emeritus of dance at Bard College.
