Soiree in the Parlor

Join us on Memorial Day for a triple-header reading of scripts in process. Magic, a short screenplay by Nancy O. Graham, is a comic caper in the form of an unusual custody battle. In The Warriors, a short play by Kate Udall, an archeologist grapples with a Viking ghost, who may have the loot she needs to solve mysteries of the past. Open Mike, a screenplay in rhyming verse by Peter Ferland, is about college students who find thousands of dollars in a second-hand couch—and return the money. Inspired by a true story.

Nancy O. Graham, curator of this soirée, is a Kingston-based actor and writer. Recent acting credits include The Clean House by Sarah Ruhl (Threshold Stage Company, Kittery, ME); Tiny Rooms, a performance installation by Grace Pendleton (Brooklyn, NY); and The Skin of Our Teeth (Voice Theatre, Woodstock, NY). Her prose and poetry have been published in such online journals as PindeldybozBlazeVox, and Eratio, and anthologized in In|Filtration: Innovative Poetry from the Hudson River Valley, edited by Anne Gorrick and Sam Truitt.

Peter Ferland lives in New Paltz. He wrote and directed the family web-series Pirate Birthday Party, which can be seen on his website: www.peterferland.com. He also made a documentary about boys' rites of passage called Tending Fires and numerous music and commercial web videos.  He writes for children's television shows (Curious GeorgeArthurMolly of Denali and a few others you've never heard of.) Open Mikeis in pre-production now, to be shot in the fall of 2018.

Kate Udall is an actor/playwright/audiobook narrator based in New Paltz.

She has appeared in off-broadway, regional, and international productions, including The Waves (Blue Heron Arts Center/Culture Project), The Seagull (White Heron@Second Stage), and the short film Gravity, which premiered at Slamdance ’11 in Park City, Utah. Look for her as Special Agent Tammy Hattley in Season Three of the Netflix series Daredevil, airing in fall of 2018.

Donate

If you live far away and can’t make it to the fundraiser, you can still donate to our cause from the comfort of your own mediated interface! All contributions, however small, are helpful. We are a young festival, growing stronger every year. Since 2014, we have seen audiences expand, conversations with and between artists deepen, collaborations kick-off, and local excitement grow. Your gifts support festival expenses, and more importantly, getting the art here. We strongly believe artists deserve to be compensated, and with your help we can get there sooner rather than later. Donate now to help support our work.

Do you have work that you would like to share with a hungry audience? Are you a dancer with no stage to dance on? Have you ever wanted to build a set that looks like a space station and sing the captain’s log on a loudspeaker? This could be the perfect opportunity. While some of the performances you will see here have been selected in advance, we suspect that there are more artists living among us than we can predict. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you are itching to share! Email us and we will shoot you back with some questions: anamirensanmillan@gmail.com
**VISUAL ART WELCOME !**

To put it simply, No Theme would not be possible without our incredibly dedicated and very small team. Volunteers work with crew members before, during, and after the festival. They can work the box office, help transform the space, host artists, cook, clean, deliver coffee, tell jokes, etc.

While we love any and all general volunteers, our 2017 season is especially looking to fill the following volunteer positions:
--Event Photographer
--Event Videographer

If you want to be treated like the last potato in town, or would like more information about volunteering, please email Ana: anamirensanmillan@gmail.com
