Cocoon Theatre Wins 1st Prize in Best Float!
September 2009's Hardscrabble Day parade was a smashing success as Coooon Theatre brought home 1st prize in best original
float. Featured below is a 10 minute video clip of the event.
In the theme of the Great Gatsby, Cocoon Theatre's float was an original design conceived of by
Andres San Millan, who maintained artistic control over the entire build process. Andres, along with the help of
several local contractors and carpenters, brought to life this creation which was based off the Montgomery Place
mansion in Red Hook. Taking four weeks to build, the float consisted of a wood frame built around a passenger truck.
Paper mache, paint and plastic were used for the finishing touches. The float was built and housed at the Greig
Farm in northern Red Hook.
